Conducted research on user-friendly interfaces for human-robot collaboration in Industry 5.0 manufacturing systems. Developed and tested a control framework using natural modalities—hand gestures and voice commands—to guide robot movements during maintenance tasks. The scenario involved an industrial robot transporting carbon fiber fabric to a mold, where a human operator draped the material. While both steps are automated, micromanagement tasks like maintenance checks required manual control via a smartPAD, disrupting workflow. The proposed framework enabled seamless robot control through gestures and voice, reducing interruptions and supporting operators with limited robotics experience.
Experiments were conducted at the Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology, German Aerospace Center (DLR).
